We are here again with another "Meet Us!" Say hello to volunteer David Sharp! 1.How long have you been working/volunteering for ABNC? I began volunteering on a regular basis in December of 2015. Before that I was an occasional volunteer for special events. 2. How often do you work/volunteer here? Twice a week with the “GEM Crew” (exterior maintenance) 3. Why did you choose ABNC as your: place of employment/home for volunteering? I’ve always considered ABNC a special place in the Clear Lake area. After I retired, it seemed like the right place to donate my time. When I was working full time, I had a 47 mile commute each way in heavy traffic. Now my morning commute to ABNC is two miles with minimal traffic. Life is good! 4. Do you work/volunteer elsewhere? I’m active in my church—a regular in church choir and occasional volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and other community projects. 5. What is your favorite part about working/volunteering for ABNC? I’ve always liked building things and fixing things, and there’s plenty of both to do at ABNC. And the GEM Crew and ABNC staff are a great bunch of people to work with every week. 6. What is your fondest memory about working/volunteering for ABNC? One day I was fixing a problem with the fencing on the bison enclosure next to the feed trough. Apparently the bison were curious about what I was doing (or maybe they thought I was going to feed them), because when I looked up I was face-to-face with a 1500 lb woolly beast, separated only by a bit of chain link fencing. Hello there! Thanks David for being a GEM of a volunteer!
