Commissioner Jack Morman and Pasadena Mayor Johnny Isbell have announced the start of construction to improve Garner Road by adding a continuous center-turn lane between Shaver Street and Pasadena Boulevard. “The construction will inconvenience travelers, but we’ll move quickly and hope to be finished by the third quarter of 2017 or sooner,” said Commissioner Morman.

Construction of the $5.7 million project will temporarily limit Garner Road to a one-way street for traffic heading eastbound. Traffic driving westbound will be detoured to Austin Avenue in order to access Shaver Street. Construction also includes a temporary closure of Dade Street between Allendale Road and Campbell Avenue. Alternate routes such as Shaver Street or Miami Road are recommended during this time. Garner Road is just one of the joint ventures between Harris County Precinct 2 and the City of Pasadena.

The City and County have also partnered in the widening of Randolph Road between Spencer Highway and Red Bluff Road. Despite the recent weather conditions, this project is currently on schedule for its third quarter 2016 completion date.
