The Honorable Judge Mike Parrott was honored with the Jim Fonteno “Service to Our Community” Award during Harris County Precinct Two’s Annual Black & White Ball on September 9, 2016 at Sylvan Beach Pavilion in La Porte. Commissioner Jack Morman & Precinct2gether, Inc. paid special tribute to Judge Parrott for his long-standing support of Precinct Two’s nonprofit program.
Judge Parrott has dedicated his life to public service and improving the quality of life for the constituents of southeast Harris County. Prior to being elected Harris County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Place 1, in 1993—he served 18 years as Superintendent of Parks for Harris County Commissioner Precinct 2 where he was instrumental in helping to establish the senior citizens program and served on its board for many years. His loyal support of the senior program continues to this day as he generously provides sponsorships and speaking engagements to various senior groups. Judge Parrott’s extensive community involvement includes serving on numerous nonprofit boards, Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs and community service organizations.
The Jim Fonteno “Service to Our Community” Award was named after long-serving Commissioner Jim Fonteno, who established Harris County Precinct Two’s senior program in 1975. It is presented annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to the nonprofit programs of Precinct Two.
