CHANNELVIEW, Texas – Drivers are urged to avoid the intersection of Market Street and Sheldon Road starting Wednesday, August 1st, as crews begin roadway and intersection improvements. These improvements include milling down the existing asphalt roadway to conduct base repairs, laying down new asphalt pavement, and restriping the roadway.

“This intersection is highly-travelled, so we’re working with contractors to get the job done quickly to reduce traffic impacts,” said Commissioner Jack Morman. “We expect the work to be complete in two weeks.”

Contractors plan to start on the south side of the intersection and progress to the east and west sides. Roadwork will require single-lane closures, so drivers are encouraged to travel with caution through the construction zones or use alternate routes, if possible. Alternate routes include Jacintoport Boulevard, Beltway 8, and I-10.
