LA PORTE, Texas – Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Morman and La Porte Mayor Louis Rigby celebrated the completion of the Sens Road widening project with community leaders at the ribbon cutting on Friday, April 21st.

Planning for the $25 million project began in 2003. After years of design, construction started in July of 2015. The project turned a two-lane asphalt roadway into a four-lane concrete road with a continuous center-turn lane, as well as the addition of a shared use path for bicyclists and pedestrians along the west side.

Event attendees included Morgan’s Point Mayor Michel Bechtel, Harris County Precinct 8 Constable Phil Sandlin, La Porte Council Members and City Officials, representatives from Briscoe Cain and Brian Babin’s Office, the local chamber, as well as members of the La Porte Independent School District Board, and many more. After the ribbon cutting, attendees gathered in the Beacon Federal Credit Union where staff provided snacks and refreshments to celebrate the roadway improvement.
