1. Describe your role and how it impacts the lives of Precinct 2 residents.

As the Senior Director of Engineering for Harris County Precinct 2, my role is to lead a diverse, skilled team dedicated to designing and delivering infrastructure solutions that directly improve the daily lives of our residents. Every project our team delivers, from safer roads to new parks, flood-resilient drainage, and accessible sidewalks, is a testament to our collective mission: creating a more vibrant, accessible, and resilient Precinct 2. We invest heavily in team cohesion, training, and an open-door policy to ensure all voices are heard. This fosters innovation and collaboration that ultimately strengthens every community we serve.

2. What do you enjoy most about your job or what is the most rewarding project you’ve worked on?

The most rewarding aspect is seeing our team’s hard work translate into real, tangible improvements for families across Precinct 2. Projects that emerge from community-driven planning, like revitalized parks or better sidewalks, stand out because they reflect residents’ true needs and dreams. The transformation of Castlewood Section 3&4, for instance, brought not just drainage improvements, but also new community pride to a community in East Aldine. An area of Harris County that hand not seen any infrastructure improvements in over 30 years. Watching a team member grow to lead a complex project because of the training and mentorship provided is equally fulfilling, knowing we’re building leaders for the future.

3. Precinct 2 recently reached a milestone for Precinct 2 dollars invested in infrastructure projects. What does this mean and how did your team accomplish this?

In 2025, Harris County Precinct 2 Engineering achieved an unprecedented milestone—spending $62 million in a single year on infrastructure projects. This level of delivery has never been matched by any other precinct in Harris County, is proof of our team’s extraordinary work ethic, trust, and unity. We accomplished this by investing deeply in team training, building a culture of accountability, and listening to every voice across our division. The cohesion and integrity of this group meant we could successfully coordinate complex projects, work seamlessly with partners, and bring Commissioner Garcia’s Revive2Thrive vision to life by maximizing funding on transformative projects for the community. Our accomplishment isn’t just about the dollars spent—it’s about the dedication to deliver real improvements that residents see and feel every day.

4. What future infrastructure project are you most excited about?

The most exciting future project for our team is the planned improvements to West Fairmont Parkway, stretching from East Red Bluff Road to State Highway 146, a transformative $82 million initiative on track to begin construction in late 2026 or early 2027. This project will widen the existing corridor from four to six lanes, upgrade bridges and intersections, add high-quality sidewalks for pedestrian safety, and fundamentally improve roadway, drainage, and mobility for residents in La Porte and Pasadena. Fairmont Parkway exemplifies our mission: leveraging engineering innovation and strong partnerships to deliver economic vitality, resiliency, and a safer, more inclusive environment for all communities in Precinct 2. This is not just another road project; it is the pathway for future growth and greater connectivity in southeast Harris County.

5. What is the coolest part about being an engineer?

The coolest part is tackling “impossible” problems as a united team and watching those paper concepts turn into reality that improves people’s lives. Whether it’s reimagining a major corridor or designing new park facilities, the process of collaborating, innovating, and engineering solutions that set new standards for the county is both humbling and exhilarating. Leading a culture that values integrity, listens to every team member, and celebrates collective impact is what makes this journey special for everyone involved.
