1. Tell us a little about your professional background and what led you to work at Precinct 2.

In my professional journey, I began my career as a Landscaper 1 at the Texas Medical Center, where I dedicated 23 years and, since day one, I loved working outdoors. Over the course of my tenure, I have acquired a diverse range of licenses, encompassing:

1-Pest Control by the SPCB and the Agriculture Department with different categories like, weed control, pest control and lawn and ornamental.

2-Licensed Irrigator by TCEQ

3-Back Flow Inspector by TCEQ

4-IPM Coordinator by SPCB

These licenses have significantly enhanced my expertise in this field.

I am fortunate to have had an individual who recognized the potential of working within this precinct and leveraged my accumulated knowledge and expertise to facilitate my professional growth.

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I find most gratifying about my role is the opportunity to enhance the parks’ landscape, thus ensuring that everyone can derive greater enjoyment from the recreational space. Nature has a proven ability to alleviate stress, and I am fortunate to have the privilege of experiencing its benefits daily during my work hours.

3. In April we celebrate Earth Day. What does this observance mean to you? What is your favorite Precinct 2 park and why?

We need to take care and love this land not only today but all the time and enjoy the beauty of every morning. My favorite park is James Driver Inclusive Park. This newly constructed park is situated within an underserved community and offers amenities that are unparalleled in the area.
