1. Describe your role and how it impacts Precinct 2 residents.

I think the best description of what I am is what many may call the first level of problem-solving for many constituents.

2. What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy that I am often tasked with the responsibility of troubleshooting issues, and many believe and depend on me to make smart and good decisions. Back in 2008, Hurricane Ike left a footprint on our city that was unbelievable. Others and I were tasked with the job of clearing the roadways and neighborhoods of debris. They were long days, but we were two weeks into this cleanup, and we had removed an area of debris that was 8 acres, and the piles were 5 stories high. This gave a lot of us a great sense of pride and accomplishment.

3. What does Black History Month mean to you?

It’s a time when Americans celebrate the positive impact of black people. I don’t really plan anything special, but I remember the past and many of the accomplishments of Blacks all the time.

4. What icon in Black history inspires you the most?

George Washington Carver. He took his knowledge and persistence and made life better for all.
